I learned about the prospects of bee farming from local farmers in my district in Assam and explored the endless possibilities of this business. My friend’s dad is an old bee farmer and he explained about the less explored field of unifloral honey available in India. It is then out of mere passion and hobby I started tasting unifloral honey from various farmers from more than 9 states of India. Gradually I obtained my own food license in 2020 and started my brand called Rizq Farm from Northeast India providing Unifloral honey of different varieties of flowers like Ajwain flower honey, Tulsi , Litchi, Kalonji, Jamun, Coffee, Shisham, Acacia, Mustard, Eucalyptus, Sidr, Karanj, and many more. These honey is tested at numerous levels from extraction to packaging for maintaining the desired quality standards.
It takes time for awareness to spread among the domestic consumers about unifloral honey.Many have a misconception of flavoured honey to be same as flower honey. Nevertheless , the raw unifloral honey is well embraced by a significant population in the domestic market.
Started as a mechanical engineer, I am now involved with passion in this apiculture business by the engineered bees. The tag line of my brand goes in this context ‘engineered by bees, packed with love’. I urge the youth to explore this field in preserving the alchemy of honey and play a role in its ecological balance.
